Arrival of a Ship Carrying Over 10,000 Sheep from Romania at Djen Djen Port in Jijel

A ship carrying more than 10,000 sheep from Romania arrived at Djen Djen Port in Jijel on Saturday as part of the program to import sheep for the upcoming Aïd El-Adha celebration.

The cargo was unloaded after completing the necessary health checks conducted by veterinary inspectors, according to Bilal Chenouia, Director of Agricultural Services. He confirmed that all required resources were mobilized to transport the sheep to quarantine zones before their distribution to the concerned provinces, following the guidelines set by the Ministry.

Veterinary inspector Mohamed Dahmane also highlighted that both material and human resources were in place to monitor and control the sheep during their quarantine period at a storage facility located at the port. This operation is part of broader measures aimed at ensuring the availability of sheep across the country to meet national demand for Aïd El-Adha.
