Road accident report

In the past 24 hours, nine people lost their lives and 208 others were injured in road accidents across several provinces, according to Algeria’s Civil Protection. The most severe incident occurred in Tindouf, where a truck collided with a light vehicle in Oued El Djez, leaving three dead.

In Illizi, an 18-year-old tragically drowned in a water pond. Meanwhile, lifeguards rescued 154 individuals from drowning at monitored beaches, with 42 treated on-site and 28 taken to local health facilities.

Firefighting units were also mobilized to extinguish seven urban and industrial blazes in Algiers, Boumerdes, Ouargla, and Bordj Bou Arreridj, where three people were injured. Overall, 40 fires were brought under control nationwide, including forest, scrubland, crop, and palm grove blazes.
