Algiers Port Expands with Reopening of Three Quays

On the occasion of Algeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary, Transport Minister Said Sayoud inaugurated three newly refurbished quays at the Port of Algiers on Saturday. The project, dormant for nearly a decade, was completed entirely by national expertise and meets international standards.

Spanning 880 meters, the new infrastructure adds 70,000 m² of operational space, enabling the port to handle over 6,000 containers and reduce ship congestion. According to port authorities, this upgrade boosts annual capacity by 300 vessels and 150,000 containers. A fourth quay is expected to be operational by the end of the month .
