Summer joy for Djanet’s children

During summer break, the number one go-to for kids is going to the beach, building sandcastles, and sunbathing an activity they can do every day without getting bored. Moreover, for children from the South, it’s more than just a summer activity; it’s a dream to one day see the long-talked-about “beach.” Born and raised in the southern environment between palm trees, sand, and camels they’ve always longed to visit the sea and cool off in its waters.
For this reason djanet’s youth centers orgnized summer camps for a group of 130 children from Djanet that is heading to the beaches of Chlef as part of Algeria’s 2025 summer camp program. This is the second group out of six planned, offering 750 children a 12-day seaside stay in Ténès, with air travel included.
To reward excellence, 20% of the spots were given to top students, and 10% to members of the Algerian Muslim Scouts. Registrations were done through a digital platform launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The program includes cultural activities, games, and guided tours, all supervised by trained staff. To make summer more fun for all, Djanet’s public pool has reopened, and another in Bordj El-Haouès will open soon. Local youth centers are also organizing events to reach children even in remote areas.
