A completely collapsed food system

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned on Monday that Gaza’s food system has completely collapsed, raising alarm over the accelerating loss of life under the ongoing zionist-imposed humanitarian blockade. Since the onset of the military assault in October 2023, Gaza has endured what OCHA describes as a man-made famine, with over 244,000 people now in catastrophic conditions and nearly a million more on the brink of starvation.
The blockade has decimated access to farmland, fisheries, and supply routes, while humanitarian aid convoys are routinely obstructed or attacked Community kitchens, once a lifeline, have dwindled by over 80%, and all UN-supported bakeries remain shuttered. OCHA officials have described the situation as “weaponized hunger”, where civilians are being killed simply for trying to access food and water.
In the words of OCHA’s Gaza coordinator, “The attempt to survive is being met with a death sentence.” The agency continues to call for an immediate ceasefire, unfettered humanitarian access, and international accountability to halt what it calls the systematic erasure of Palestinian life.
