“Ibaoune” as an ancestral dish for Ashura

Ashura a sacred day for the muslim community and the algerian families while some might be fasting and waiting for the moment of leftor  others might be  preparing some traditional meals and customs for Ashura’s evening. 

To welcome and celebrate the feast of Ashura, families in Ghardaia prepare an ancestral recipe featuring authentic flavors, based on dried broad beans known locally as “Ibaoune.”
