Milan beats Lecce 2-0

AC Milan secured their first win of the 2025-26 Serie A season with a 2-0 victory over Lecce at the Via del Mare on August 29th. After a goalless first half where Milan had two goals disallowed by VAR, Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring in the 66th minute, heading in a free-kick delivered by Luka Modrić.

Christian Pulisic, who came off the bench, sealed the win with a precise left-footed finish in the 86th minute. Milan showed strong defensive solidity throughout the game, with goalkeeper Mike Maignan making crucial saves to keep a clean sheet.

The match highlighted some impressive milestones, including Modrić becoming the oldest midfielder to provide an assist in Serie A history at nearly 40 years old and Loftus-Cheek scoring his first Serie A goal since March 2024. Despite Lecce’s efforts, they were unable to break down Milan’s organized defense and remain without a goal in the season so far. The win lifted AC Milan to three points after their opening day defeat and demonstrated renewed competitiveness under coach Massimiliano Allegri. Overall, the match was a solid response from Milan coming off their earlier loss, showing determination and quality in the second half to earn the deserved victory
