UN Chief Guterres urges immediate ceasefire in Gaza

UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Thursday called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, following Israel’s announcement of initial steps for a possible takeover of Gaza City.

Speaking at a development conference in Tokyo, he stressed the urgency of halting hostilities to prevent further civilian casualties and destruction.Guterres also urged Israel to reverse its decision to expand an “illegal” settlement in the West Bank.
