Nine people died and 465 were injured in road accidents over the past 48 hours across several wilayas says the Civil Protection.

The deadliest toll was in Bordj Bou Arreridj, with four deaths and two injuries from three accidents.

Civil Protection teams also fought three urban fires in Adrar, Djelfa, and Annaba, treating eight people affected by smoke from an electrical cabinet fire in Annaba.

They provided first aid to 21 people suffering carbon monoxide poisoning from heating devices in homes in Annaba, Relizane, and Saïda.

Regarding forest fires, Civil Protection extinguished 76 fires across multiple provinces, mobilizing significant human and material resources to contain flames fueled by strong winds and difficult terrain.

An emergency plan led by Colonel Boualem Boughlef and central directorate staff coordinated aerial support to control and extinguish the fires
