Industry’s growth in high

Algeria’s national public industrial sector recorded a strong growth of 6.3% in the second quarter of 2025, surpassing last year’s performance of 3.8%, according to the National Statistics Office (ONS). Nearly all industries contributed to this positive trend.

The energy sector maintained its solid progress with a 9.2% increase, while hydrocarbons returned to growth (+1.5%) thanks to higher crude oil and natural gas production (+3%) and refining (+6.2%). The mining and quarrying sector also rebounded with a 1.2% rise, recovering from last quarter’s decline.

Building materials saw a remarkable 16.7% jump, confirming their strong momentum since early 2024. Chemical industries improved by 2.5%, bouncing back from an 11.1% drop. Meanwhile, the leather and wood sectors achieved exceptional results, soaring by 40.7% and 131.6%, respectively.

Although a few industries such as metallurgy, agri-food, and textiles saw slight declines, the overall picture remains highly encouraging, reflecting the renewed dynamism of Algeria’s industrial production.
