Social Media car scams cracked in Oum El Bouaghi

The National Gendarmerie in Oum El Bouaghi has dismantled a criminal network that scammed people by selling fake cars on Facebook through installment plans.

Victims were lured with attractive offers, asked to pay a 10% deposit, then blocked and cut off as scammers switched phone numbers to target others.

After receiving tips, authorities launched a swift investigation, identifying and arresting six suspects including one minor and tracking down 12 accomplices overall. Phones, computers, and other equipment used in the fraud were also seized. The case is now with judicial authorities as the search continues for the remaining suspects.
