Wildfires sweep 10 wilayas

Civil Protection teams have managed to extinguish multiple fires that erupted in the past hours across ten provinces, while efforts continue to put out the remaining blazes, the Directorate General of Civil Protection reported on Friday.
Out of 29 forest fires recorded in Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Béjaïa, Tizi Ouzou, Chlef, Médéa, Aïn Defla, Jijel and Tlemcen, 20 were fully extinguished by 10 a.m., with crews still working on the last nine.
To reinforce operations, authorities deployed major human and material resources, including the BE200 water-bomber aircraft and mobile firefighting units from neighboring provinces.
Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb visited the affected areas in western Tipaza overnight to follow the firefighting efforts. At the temporary shelter set up at the Mohamed Bou Abdallah school, he reassured evacuated families that, following President Tebboune’s instructions, the state is fully committed to supporting and accompanying them through this difficult situation.
Civil Protection urges citizens to stay vigilant, avoid approaching affected areas, and immediately report any new fire to emergency number 14 or the green number 1021.
