AADL program takes shape

Over 80,000 homes are now officially part of Algeria’s AADL 3 housing program, and construction is kicking off across the country! With the government ramping up efforts to meet the growing demand for affordable housing, this ambitious project is set to transform the lives of thousands.

Housing has become a top priority for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune as part of a strategy to meet the growing demand and ensure no one is homeless . The government’s commitment to delivering these homes is clear, and the AADL program, now in its third phase, continues to move forward with concrete results.

So far more than 80,000 homes have been allocated under AADL 3, surpassing initial targets. This milestone reflects the government’s determination to fulfill its promise of affordable housing, reduce the housing deficit, and improve the quality of life for Algerians. During a visit to Constantine in November, President Tebboune reaffirmed that housing is a firm commitment, not just empty promises, and that these projects will be completed on schedule.

The AADL 3 program is moving at a faster pace, with work expanding across multiple regions. This effort has been closely managed by the Ministry of Housing and the AADL to ensure timely delivery. The program’s rapid progress is also highlighted by major projects, including the groundbreaking for 20,000 homes in Boumerdès on December 15, with plans to eventually build up to 30,000 homes there.

Looking ahead, an additional 300,000 units are expected by 2026, part of a broader vision to create modern urban centers with the necessary infrastructure. A key project in Sidi Hallou, covering 450 hectares, will include housing, schools, medical facilities, transportation hubs, and recreational spaces, catering to more than 150,000 residents.

The 2025 and 2026 budgets are set to fund the construction of 500,000 additional homes. The government is also easing the financial burden for applicants by allowing them to pay the first installment in two parts.

Moreover, efforts to improve construction quality include features like central heating, better ceramic finishes, and upgraded seismic protection.
