Council of the nation sets agenda for January 13–22, 2026

President of the Council of the Nation, Azzouz Nasri, chaired a meeting Sunday to review the upper chamber’s agenda for January 13–22, 2026. The schedule includes the discussion of five draft laws, review of oral and written questions, and validation of a new member appointed by the President.
Two draft laws were referred to the Legal, Administrative, Human Rights, and Local Governance Committee, including the organic law on the judiciary and the amended nationality law, while the law criminalizing French colonialism was sent to the Defense Committee. Two other laws on traffic regulations and electronic trust services were sent to the Equipment and Local Development Committee for reporting.
Public sessions will resume Tuesday, January 13, with votes on the five laws scheduled for Wednesday, January 21. Nasri extended New Year wishes to parliament members and citizens, wishing health, prosperity, and peace for Algeria.
