ANP foils drug smuggling, arrests 40 traffickers

Between January 8 and 13, the National People’s Army (ANP), in coordination with security services, intercepted over three quintals of processed kif coming from the Moroccan border and arrested 40 drug traffickers.

In ongoing anti-terrorism efforts, the ANP also apprehended five individuals supporting terrorist groups across the country.

The operations seized 34.7 kg of cocaine, 222,218 psychotropic pills, and in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and Illizi, authorities arrested 200 people and confiscated vehicles, generators, jackhammers, gold mixes, and illegal mining equipment.

Additional raids led to the seizure of one FMPK machine gun, three Kalashnikovs, four hunting rifles, and 33,050 liters of fuel intended for smuggling.

On the coasts, 71 people were rescued from homemade boats, while 205 undocumented immigrants of various nationalities were arrested nationwide.

The ANP emphasized that these results reflect their professionalism, vigilance, and readiness across Algeria.
