Key Decisions from council of ministers

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a Council of Ministers meeting focused on accelerating digitalization, strengthening agriculture, and addressing the situation of Algerian youth abroad.

He praised the country’s advanced progress in data digitization and ordered the creation of technical teams in all ministries to ensure daily data updates for accurate governance.

In agriculture, the President set 2026 priorities centered on increasing yields per hectare, boosting cereal and meat production, adopting scientific farming methods, revising the agricultural orientation law, reducing imports without causing shortages, encouraging cooperatives, and continuing the regularization of agricultural land. He also set a target of expanding cultivated land to three million hectares and stressed the urgent import of harvesting equipment for the 2025–2026 season.

The President also announced a decision to regularize the situation of Algerian youth abroad living in irregular and precarious conditions, provided they commit not to reoffend. Consulates will oversee the process until their return, with the measure excluding those involved in serious crimes or acts against the State.
