Snowfall returns to Algeria’s highlands

Snowfall is expected this weekend across high-altitude areas above 1,100–1,200 meters in several wilayas, according to a special weather bulletin issued by the National Office of Meteorology.
An Orange Alert has been placed for Béchar, Tlemcen, Naâma, Sidi Bel Abbès, Saïda and El Bayadh from Saturday at noon until Sunday at 6 a.m., with snow possibly reaching lower elevations around 1,000 meters on Sunday morning. Snow depth is forecast at 5 to 10 cm.
Further snowfall is also expected in Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Laghouat and Djelfa from Saturday evening until Sunday noon, where accumulations could reach 10 to 15 cm in higher areas.
Drivers and residents in affected regions are advised to stay alert as winter conditions make a brief comeback.
