Sonelgaz expands power and gas access in Southern Algeria

Continuing its support for local development, Sonelgaz has connected 136 farms to electricity in Ghardaïa and supplied natural gas to 249 households in Timimoun.

In Ghardaïa, the 2025 electrification program covered all 10 communes, with an investment exceeding 543 million DA, helping boost agricultural productivity through better irrigation and crop choices. The project included the installation of power networks, transformers, and new connections to support farming in an arid climate.

In Timimoun, natural gas was officially introduced to the ksar of Iguestène in the commune of Deldoul, raising the local gas coverage rate to nearly 65%. The move is expected to ease daily life for residents, improve heating in schools, and reduce reliance on butane gas, with further connections planned across the wilaya in upcoming development programs.
