Algeria clears dues to foreign hospitals, minister says

Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Abdelhak Saihi said Thursday in Algiers that Algeria has no outstanding debts to foreign hospitals, stressing that the state has fully met all its financial commitments under direct contracts for treating Algerian patients abroad.

Speaking during a plenary Q&A session at the Council of the Nation, Saihi affirmed that all agreed payments to overseas medical institutions have been settled.

However, he revealed that Algeria is owed about $14 million by one country that failed to provide medical care for patients transferred there, describing it as pending dues in Algeria’s favor
