Algerian boxers hit the ring for 2026 glory

With major events on the horizon, including the Strandja International Tournament in Bulgaria, Algeria’s national boxing team will begin training camps on February 7.
Coach Khaled Harima announced the preparation will take place in two phases February 7–13 and 16–21 allowing physical, technical, and medical assessments for 32 top boxers across senior and youth categories.
The program also emphasizes renewing the team, giving opportunities to national champions and promising athletes aged 21–23, aiming for long-term competitiveness through 2028. A busy international schedule, including the World Cup, African Championship, Mediterranean Games, and other tournaments, will provide boxers with critical experience and ranking points.
Injured fighters will rejoin soon, ensuring every athlete is ready physically and mentally. Harima also plans a youth challenge in 2027 to build a strong future generation, keeping Algeria competitive on the Olympic stage.
