Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb chaired a government meeting on Wednesday focused on infrastructure, purchasing power and long-term development priorities.i
Ministers examined a draft decree declaring public utility for the construction of a road underpass in Chéraga, west of Algiers. The project, already 60% complete, is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connections between Chéraga, Bouchaoui and Aïn Benian.
The government also reviewed progress on the import of one million sheep ahead of Eid al-Adha 2026, a measure ordered by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to stabilize red meat prices and ensure adequate livestock supply for the holiday. Authorities said sanitary and commercial agreements have been finalized to guarantee proper transport, health compliance and traceability.
In addition, ministers discussed the National Youth Plan 2025–2029, aimed at empowering young Algerians through coordinated public policies and measurable performance goals.
The meeting concluded with updates on major water security projects, including the Sidi Khelifa dam in Tizi Ouzou and the Bouzina dam in Batna, both key to strengthening drinking water supply and supporting agricultural irrigation.
