Nemour strikes back with silver in Cottbus

Kaylia Nemour claimed a brilliant silver medal on the balance beam at the opening stage of the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Cottbus on Sunday, reminding everyone why she remains one of the sport’s fiercest competitors.
With a strong score of 13.833, Nemour finished second in a high-level final dominated by Japan’s Aiko Sugihara, who secured gold with 14.066. Russia’s Milana Kaiumova rounded out the podium with 13.400.
The silver shines even brighter considering the setback Nemour faced just a day earlier. A fall in the uneven bars final cost her a medal a tough blow for the Olympic champion, who had dazzled in qualification with an impressive 15.200. During that routine, she successfully performed her newly recognized skill, the “Nemour 2,” officially validated by the International Gymnastics Federation and added to the Code of Points a rare achievement that cements her mark on the sport.
But champions don’t dwell on disappointment they bounce back. And Nemour did just that, showing grit, composure, and the heart of a true fighter.
The World Cup circuit now moves to Baku, where the second stage is set for March 5–8. If this opening chapter is any indication, Nemour is ready to keep raising the bar and the stakes.
