President Tebboune Marks End of Algeria’s APRM Leadership

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune addressed the 35th Forum of Heads of State and Government of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Addis Ababa, marking the end of Algeria’s rotating chairmanship of the body. His message was delivered by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb.

Algeria’s presidency, which began in February 2024, focused on strengthening governance, promoting institutional resilience, and aligning the mechanism with the African Union’s Agenda 2063. During this period, the Central African Republic and Somalia joined the APRM, bringing its membership to 45 states.

Tebboune highlighted progress on governance reviews, the adoption of a 2025–2028 strategic plan, and efforts to link governance reforms with peace and conflict prevention.

Algeria officially handed over the chairmanship to Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda, reaffirming its commitment to the APRM’s principles and to advancing good governance across Africa.
