Special safety plan during Ramadan

For Ramadan the security services of Algiers have deployed a special safety plan aimed at one clear objective: ensuring the protection of citizens and their property throughout the holy month.
Police units will be deployed across the capital to secure markets, mosques, public squares, leisure spaces, and major transport hubs including bus and train stations, the metro and tramway all of which see heavy footfall during Ramadan. A reinforced security presence will also be in place at Djamaâ El Djazaïr to safeguard worshippers, especially during night prayers.
Fixed checkpoints, as well as foot and motorized patrols, will monitor cultural, religious, and sporting events while maintaining public order. Traffic control will be a priority, particularly before iftar, when congestion and speeding often increase the risk of accidents. Awareness campaigns will accompany stricter road monitoring to encourage responsible driving.
Authorities will also step up efforts to combat illegal street trading, unauthorized parking, and public space violations, while judicial police units intensify patrols to prevent crime and maintain public peace.
The overarching goal is simple: a safe, orderly, and serene Ramadan for all. Citizens can report emergencies or violations via the green number 1548, the emergency line 17, or the “Allô Chorta” mobile app.
