Algiers and Niamey press ahead with joint agenda

Algeria and Niger have taken a clear step towards a stronger, more structured partnership following the second session of their joint cooperation commission.

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb welcomed what he described as “solid progress”, highlighting a shared commitment to turn political momentum into concrete projects. He pointed in particular to the active involvement of public and private economic operators, underlining the growing role of business in driving bilateral ties.

Key strategic projects  including the trans-Saharan gas pipeline, road links and fibre optic connections were cited as pillars for regional integration and development. Several new agreements were also signed, covering vital sectors such as energy, agriculture and health.

Both sides reaffirmed their alignment on regional issues, stressing the need for continued coordination to address security challenges in the Sahel and promote long-term stability and growth.

The next challenge, Ghrieb noted, will be to ensure swift and effective implementation of the agreed roadmap.
