ANP Foils smuggling attempt, kills 3 armed traffickers

Three armed foreign smugglers were killed Wednesday night by combined units of Algeria’s National People’s Army (ANP) in In Guezzam, the Defense Ministry said Thursday.
The operation, carried out after intelligence-led tracking, led to a clash with a criminal group near the southern border. Soldiers also seized two Kalashnikov submachine guns, magazines, ammunition, and a 4×4 vehicle loaded with 150 kg of raw gold.
The ministry said the operation, conducted on the eve of Eid El-Fitr, reflects the army’s continued vigilance in securing borders and combating organized smuggling networks.
