Spain seizes 5 tons of cocaine in major Huelva operation

Spanish police in Huelva have seized five tonnes of cocaine originating from Morocco and arrested eight suspects in one of the largest anti-drug operations.
The cocaine was stored in a property near Gibraleon, used as a temporary warehouse before being transported to its final destination. Authorities also confiscated nearly €1 million in cash and assault rifles linked to the trafficking network.
According to investigators, the drugs arrived via the same fast-boat routes commonly used for hashish trafficking. The suspects had planned to “cool” the cocaine for a few days before distribution. Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover the full extent of the organisation and any connections abroad, as Spain remains a key target in Europe for narcotics smuggled from Morocco.
