Strengthening Coordination on Matters of Mutual Interest

Mr General Saïd Chanegriha, Delegate Minister to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, received Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello, Chief of Staff of the Italian Land Army, at the headquarters of the PNA Staff on 17 February 2026.

Lieutenant General Masiello was undertaking a working visit to Algeria, leading a military delegation. During the meeting, which was attended by Major Generals and Brigadier Generals from the Ministry of National Defence and PNA Staff, alongside members of the Italian delegation, the two parties discussed opportunities for bilateral military cooperation and explored ways to enhance coordination on matters of mutual interest.

They also exchanged views on current affairs. Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello expressed his sincere gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation and voiced his satisfaction with the Algerian side’s commitment to further strengthen relations and consultations between the two countries in areas of shared concern. At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts.
