Government Pushes Change on Different Fronts

From jobs to energy, the government is trying to hit multiple priorities at once. During a meeting chaired by Sifi Ghrieb, officials reviewed key reforms shaping daily life starting with the unemployment benefit program, now considered a central tool in Algeria’s job policy.

After four years, it’s showing solid results, offering a minimum income of 18,000 DA while pushing young job seekers toward training and employment.

But the focus didn’t stop there. The government is also moving toward earlier and more coordinated prevention of disabilities, boosting the real-world impact of university research, and reshaping the energy sector to embrace renewables and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Add to that ongoing water infrastructure adjustments and new environmental roadmaps, and the message is clear: a broad push to modernize systems while responding to social and economic pressures.
