Media deal inked between Algeria and Mauritania

In a major diplomatic leap, Algerian Communications Minister Zouhir Bouamama and his Mauritanian counterpart, Hussain Ould Meddou, have greenlit a comprehensive roadmap to revolutionize media ties between the two nations.
Meeting on the sidelines of the 20th Algerian-Mauritanian Joint Committee, the two officials moved beyond traditional diplomacy to prioritize a high-tech, digital-first partnership. This ambitious agreement focuses on digitizing audiovisual archives and launching intensive professional exchange programs, effectively merging Algeria’s technical expertise with Mauritania’s growing media landscape.
The pact is a direct reflection of the strategic harmony between President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who have both signaled that a unified information space is critical for regional stability.
Highlighting this deep-rooted solidarity, Minister Ould Meddou invited his Algerian counterpart to Mauritania for the historic groundbreaking of a new “Press House” a project championed by President Tebboune himself. By transforming historical ties into a modern, data-driven partnership, Algiers and Nouakchott are not just sharing headlines, but are actively building a coordinated media front that promises to amplify their shared interests on the global stage.
