President Tebboune honors innovation on science day

In a poignant fusion of historical tribute and future-oriented vision, Algeria celebrated “knowledge day” (Science Day) this April 16th with the awarding of the second President of the Republic’s Prize for the Innovative Researcher.
In a speech delivered on his behalf at the Abdelhafid Ihaddaden Science and Technology Pole in Sidi Abdellah, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed that science and innovation are now the bedrock of Algerian sovereignty and the primary engine for its economic transformation. This national milestone deliberately coincides with the anniversary of the passing of Imam Abdelhamid Ben Badis, the visionary leader who taught the nation that the battle for liberation and nation-building begins in the classroom.
By honoring six elite researchers and students specializing in strategic fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Health, and Energy, the state sends a powerful cultural message: Algeria is transitioning from a consumer of technology to a producer of knowledge.
Under the proud banner of “Innovate in Algeria,” this initiative seeks to bridge the gap between laboratory research and tangible economic value, fostering a protective environment for patents and startups. Ultimately, this celebration proves that knowledge remains the nation’s most precious asset, as Algeria marches toward a future where the spirit of Ben Badis is kept alive through the cutting-edge achievements of a new, brilliant generation.
