108 Million DA investment set to transform rural life in Khenchela

A budget of 108 million dinars has been earmarked for a series of development projects in the municipality of Djellal, in Khenchela , as local authorities move to improve infrastructure and living conditions in rural areas.
The nine projects, funded under Algeria’s 2026 social and economic development support program, focus primarily on water resources and public works. Planned initiatives include the construction of a 1,000-cubic-meter water reservoir, the expansion of sanitation networks, upgrades to wastewater infrastructure, and the rehabilitation of a bridge crossing Oued Oubadis.
Road connectivity is also high on the agenda, with new communal roads set to link the villages of Bouyaâkoub, Ouled Ouchene, and Imezrane, alongside the construction of a new engineering structure in the Chadjrat Oumrah area.
Beyond the concrete and asphalt, these projects carry broader significance. Improved access to water, sanitation, and transportation can help reduce regional disparities, encourage economic activity, and improve access to education, healthcare, and public services for residents of remote communities. The initiative is also expected to generate job opportunities for local youth during both the construction phase and the long-term development of the area.
Investments of this kind represent more than infrastructure upgrades they are a step toward balanced regional development and stronger local economies, ensuring that growth reaches communities beyond major urban centers.
