14 Independence fighters reburied in emotional ceremony in Tizi Ouzou

Algeria paid tribute on Saturday to 14 fallen independence fighters as their remains were reburied during a solemn ceremony in the village of Ighil Iqlimimen in Tizi Ouzou.

The ceremony, attended by government officials, veterans, lawmakers and local residents, honored the men who died during Algeria’s war of independence. Minister of Moudjahidine and Rights Holders Abdelmalek Tachrifet described the reburial as a “renewed pledge of loyalty” to the country’s martyrs and revolutionary legacy.

National flags waved over the gathering as prayers echoed through the village, in a moment marked by silence, remembrance and deep national pride. Officials said the event reflects Algeria’s enduring commitment to preserving the memory of those who fought for the nation’s freedom.
