Algeria sets May 27 as Eid El-Adha date

Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments of Algeria announced on Sunday evening that Monday, May 18, 2026, marks the first day of Dhu al-Hidjah 1447 Hidjri, officially setting Eid El-Adha for Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

According to the ministry’s statement, the Day of Arafat, observed on the ninth day of Dhu al-Hidjah, will fall on Tuesday, May 26.

The announcement confirms the official dates for one of the most important religious celebrations in the Muslim calendar, as Algerian families begin final preparations for Eid El-Adha festivities across the country.
