BEM exam leak: Student jailed 3 years in Mila

A 19-year-old private candidate was sentenced to 3 years in prison after leaking a BEM exam subject during the 2026 middle school exams in Mila, judicial authorities announced Tuesday.
According to a statement from the Mila Judicial Council, the student identified by the initials “S.H.F.” was caught using a mobile phone just 30 minutes after the start of the Arabic language exam.
Investigators later found that the suspect had shared the exam topic with others through social media platforms, prompting immediate legal action.
The case was brought before the public prosecutor the same day under fast-track proceedings related to the leaking of official exam subjects. Following his appearance in court, the accused was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison along with a fine of 100,000 Algerian dinars.
