President Tebboune Unveils high-stakes economic push

Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a key Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, ordering faster development of Algeria’s petrochemical industry to cut imports and build an integrated industrial network powered by local expertise.

The meeting also focused on the importation of one million sheep ahead of Eid El Adha, with the President demanding stricter supervision of the operation and banning the slaughter of imported female sheep to preserve livestock resources.

Major strategic projects, including the Bled El Hadba mining railway and the expansion of the Port of Annaba, received renewed backing, while the government was instructed to modernize water management and reform the operations of Algérienne des Eaux to improve efficiency and reduce massive water losses nationwide.
