New shipment of Eid sheep arrives from Spain

As Eid Al-Adha approaches, Algeria continues to ramp up livestock imports to meet growing demand across the country.

A new shipment carrying 13,489 sheep arrived Friday morning at the port of Ténès in Chlef from Spain as part of the national Eid import program, local agricultural authorities said.

Officials confirmed that the animals will soon be distributed to sales points for citizens, while veterinary inspections and health control measures remain in place throughout unloading, quarantine, and distribution operations.

The latest delivery marks the fifth shipment received through the port since April, reflecting ongoing efforts to ensure the availability of sacrificial sheep ahead of Eid celebrations nationwide.
