Parents urged to stay alert near water sites

As summer approaches, Algeria’s Interior Ministry has urged parents to remain highly vigilant and closely supervise their children around rivers, dams and irrigation reservoirs, warning that these areas pose serious safety risks.
In a statement issued Saturday, the ministry stressed that such water sites can be particularly dangerous due to their depth and the difficulty of assessing hidden hazards. Parents were advised not to leave children unattended near these locations, to prevent swimming in unsafe areas and to raise awareness about the risks they present.
The ministry emphasized that protecting lives is a shared responsibility and called on families to make children’s safety a top priority throughout the summer season.
