Real Madrid says goodbye with style

Real Madrid closed out their La Liga season with a show for the home fans, beating Athletic Club 4-2 on Saturday. After a turbulent few months, the Merengues delivered a lively finale  and a fitting farewell for right-back Dani Carvajal, who played his last game for the club.

Kylian Mbappé was the star, finding the net and confirming his status as the league’s top scorer. The match had enough spark to entertain without drama: Real controlled the tempo, Athletic offered flashes of threat, and the result gave Madrid a morale-boosting send-off as the summer break begins.

The Bernabéu buzzed with a mix of celebration and nostalgia, as fans savoured the final whistle and one last glimpse of Carvajal in white. With Mbappé’s Golden Boot locked in and the season’s frustrations swept aside, the result felt like a springboard rather than a finale  a reminder of what’s possible when Real hit their stride.
