Repair teams work nonstop after tunnel breakdown

According to Algeria’s Highway Authority, technical and maintenance teams have been working around the clock since the malfunction was detected on Friday, including overnight operations, to restore the control and monitoring systems and reopen both tunnels as quickly as possible.
Authorities said all human and technical resources have been mobilized, while security and monitoring measures remain in place in coordination with relevant services to ensure road safety and protect the infrastructure.
The closure led to a temporary diversion of traffic onto National Road 1, allowing specialized teams to carry out repairs under safe conditions. Officials have urged motorists to follow traffic guidance and safety instructions until normal operations resume.
The Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure reaffirmed its commitment to reopening the tunnels at the earliest opportunity and restoring traffic flow under safe and normal conditions.
