Storms and sandstorms sweep across Algeria tonight

Algeria is set for a turbulent Saturday evening as thunderstorms, strong winds and sandstorms are expected to hit several regions across the country, according to the national weather office.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast from 3 p.m. until midnight, affecting eastern and central provinces including Sétif, Batna, Biskra and Tébessa among others.

Meanwhile, powerful winds and sandstorms are expected from 6 p.m. through midnight in southern areas such as Ouargla, Ghardaïa and Tindouf, with authorities urging residents to remain cautious while travelling.
