Tlemcen couscous tops all regional rivals at national festival

The Tlemcen couscous has been awarded top honors at the first National Couscous Days held in Koléa, celebrating Algeria’s rich and diverse culinary heritage.
The three-day event brought together chefs and associations from across the country, showcasing regional recipes that turned the House of Culture Ahmed Aroua into a vibrant arena of flavors, traditions, and competition.
After intense evaluation based on taste, presentation, and culinary technique, the jury praised the exceptional variety of dishes, highlighting once again the depth of Algeria’s ancestral know-how. Tlemcen ultimately stood out for its signature blend of couscous and seafood, earning it the top prize.
The festival closed leaving behind the the culinary art of Algerian receipies and it is a living heritage, uniting regions through taste, tradition, and identity.
