Algeria Strikes Gold in Arab U23 athletics meet in Egypt

Algeria enjoyed a strong day at the Arab U23 Athletics Championships in Ismailia, Egypt, securing three medals  two golds and a bronze.

Issam Laouag claimed gold in the long jump with a leap of 7.59m, edging a tightly contested finish, while Djiahi Anespowered to victory in the 3000m steeplechase in a personal best performance.

On the women’s side, Guemam Nour Mariem added bronze in the 3000m steeplechase, rounding off a solid podium presence for Algeria.

With several athletes just missing out on medals, Algeria leaves Ismailia with momentum and clear signs of a rising generation ready to compete at the next level.
