ANIE warns candidates: Follow campaign finance rules or face scrutiny

Algeria’s election authority has reminded candidates in the July 2 parliamentary elections to strictly follow campaign finance regulations aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability.
Under the rules, each candidate list must appoint a treasurer and open a single dedicated bank account through which all campaign income and spending must pass. Candidates are also required to provide the account details to election monitors for oversight.
The authority stressed that campaign funding can come from political parties, candidates’ personal contributions, and donations from private citizens, with individual donations capped at 400,000 dinars.
The move comes as officials seek to strengthen financial oversight and ensure a transparent electoral process ahead of next month’s vote.
