ANIRA pulls TV episode over child privacy concerns

Algeria’s audiovisual regulator, ANIRA, has ordered the withdrawal of a television episode and its promotional trailer after raising concerns over the privacy of a minor featured in the program.

The case involves an episode of Acht ou Cheft on Echourouk TV, which addressed the risks of mobile phone use and parental supervision. After reviewing the content and meeting with the channel’s representatives, ANIRA found that the minor involved was at the center of a parental dispute and could face psychological and moral harm through indirect media exposure.

To protect the child from controversy and exploitation, the episode will not be aired and all related promotional content has been removed from the channel’s platforms.

ANIRA stressed that it does not oppose discussing digital safety issues but called on broadcasters to ensure responsible coverage that protects minors and respects privacy.
