FJD Campaigns on accountability and citizen power

The Front for Justice and Development (FJD) renewed its call for a citizen-focused parliament on Saturday as Algeria’s legislative election campaign entered its fifth day.

Speaking at a rally in Constantine, party leaders emphasized the importance of public service, accountability, and representation. Ali Mouelhi, a member of the party’s national bureau and campaign coordinator, highlighted the growing role of young candidates on the FJD’s electoral lists, describing their involvement as a sign of the party’s renewal and commitment to the future.

Mouelhi stressed that a deputy’s role goes beyond passing laws. According to him, parliamentarians must also oversee government action and act as a bridge between citizens and state institutions. He called for unwavering dedication to voters and respect for campaign promises.

The FJD official also pointed to the emergence of a new generation of candidates following the absence of several veteran party figures from the electoral lists. He said this transition reflects the movement’s ability to maintain its political vision while embracing renewal.

Party leader Abdellah Djaballah, who attended the meeting, urged candidates to view themselves as representatives of the people rather than bureaucrats. He called on them to remain close to citizens and uphold ethical values in political life.

As campaigning intensifies ahead of the July 2 legislative elections, the FJD is seeking to position itself as a party committed to accountability, public service, and stronger citizen representation in parliament.
