New investment push targets jobs and growth

Algeria is stepping up its investment drive after Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb installed the new board of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), a move aimed at speeding up project approvals and improving support for investors.

The government says the reform is part of a broader effort to improve the business climate and meet President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s target of delivering 20,000 investment projects by 2029. New measures will give one-stop investment offices greater decision-making powers, allowing files to be processed more quickly and reducing administrative delays.

Officials expect the revamped governance structure to strengthen coordination between institutions, guide investments toward high-value sectors, and boost job creation and regional development as Algeria seeks to attract more productive investment and diversify its economy.
