Oxford establishes Emir Abdelkader chair

Algeria and the United Kingdom have taken a new step in academic and cultural cooperation with the signing of an agreement in London establishing the Emir Abdelkader Chair at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.

Signed in the presence of senior Algerian officials, the initiative aims to promote research, dialogue, and cultural exchange while highlighting the legacy of Emir Abdelkader as a statesman, thinker, and symbol of modern Algeria. The chair will serve as a platform for strengthening scholarly ties between Algeria and one of the world’s leading academic institutions.

Officials described the project as a strategic investment in knowledge and a bridge for deeper understanding between cultures and civilizations.
