Government reviews port authority, farm mechanization council, and youth jobs program

The government on Wednesday reviewed a series of strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing key sectors and expanding employment opportunities for young people during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, ministers examined a draft legal framework for the creation of a National Port Authority, which would oversee the development, management, maintenance, and preservation of the country’s public port infrastructure as part of the implementation of the President’s directives.

The meeting also discussed a draft executive decree establishing the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization. The council will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring Algeria’s national agricultural mechanization strategy, with the goal of modernizing farming, increasing productivity, promoting the use of agricultural machinery, and strengthening the country’s food security.

In addition, the government reviewed the “Sanaa” program, a national initiative designed to equip young people with the skills demanded by the labor market. The program combines vocational training, mentoring, and career guidance to prepare participants for a wide range of professions.

To make the initiative more accessible, training sessions will also be offered during evenings and weekends. The program is expected to help meet the growing demand for skilled workers, support job creation, and encourage youth entrepreneurship.
